expand-region-el software package provides Transition package, expand-region-el to elpa-expand-region, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install expand-region-el
expand-region-el is installed in your system.
Make ensure the expand-region-el package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep expand-region-el *
You will get with expand-region-el package name, version, architecture and description in a table
